You Might Be A South If...

My Name: Matthew Chipman

You might be a South if...

You love to sing, go gray early, and get a good "ponch" (big belly) by age 50 (or sooner).

Your spouse, partner and sidekick knows you are a South because...

I’m often sarcastic and say things I only half mean, then she makes me say "I’m sorry."

Special events have occurred when you were with your cousins, Aunts or Uncles......

Early childhood visits to cousin Barry’s saw mill in Island Park, and to see Grandpa South’s asbestos mine. All the Thanksgiving and New Years basketball games were the best.

The time Ed Fox was staying with me for a week in West Jordon and I took him with me to kill the neighbors’ chickens. We got caught red handily.

Being surprised that my Uncle William gave his kids a pool table and BB guns and he was a Stake President. (My mom said that pool tables were of the devil).

Something special about my parents that I would like to share.....

My mom (VaLois) was always quoting statements of the Lord to teach us how to treat each other. Always spending her life in the service of others --- feeding the widow, visiting the sick and even those in prison, Giving -- Giving -- Giving.

My Name: Karen Peisley

You might be a South if...

...you wore the same outfit to the last 4 reunions.

...When visiting, you don’t hop, skip, or jump, but clog, to your neighbors house.

Your spouse, partner and sidekick knows you are a South because...

...he makes you use the salad fork.

Special events have occurred when you were with your cousins, Aunts or Uncles... sing and dance.

Something special about my parents that I would like to share...

Mom always mentions the sunsets, home or while we were traveling. Taught me to appreciate nature and world around us.

Her little sayings, always starting each one with "My mother always told me..." (example) ‘better to be 100% dependable and 50% capable than 100% capable and 50% dependable.’
